Leukaemia Research Appeal For Wales

dedicated to understanding the causes of leukaemia
and supporting the search for treatments and cures

The LRAW is dedicated to supporting research into leukaemia and related diseases at centres throughout Wales. Founded in 1981, it has raised over £2.5 million. We are an entirely voluntary charity, with all monies raised spent in Wales, though the work we support helps combat these diseases internationally.

Brief Introduction
our focus	On raising monies to support leukaemia research in Wales
where we are	Originally based in Cardiff, we have active supporters throughout Wales and donations from throughout the UK All research and research funding is within Wales
how we are run	We are run entirely by volunteers - no-one is paid or claims expenses
expenditure	Almost all the monies we raise are spent on supporting leukaemia research (We do advertise in Charity Choice, Yellow Pages and we host this website) We do not employ any staff - all our work is undertaken by a small band of volunteers We do not produce anything to sell, and we do not operate any shops
history	Established in 1981
research ethics	Subject to the research ethics procedures of the relevant university and/or hospital governing bodies. We do not support research involving animals
fund raising	Most of our funds come from charity fund raising events, donations given in memoriam or bequests
